When you’re looking for the a pair of shoes when you are planing a tour to beach during holiday, you might also come across aqua shoes, aqua socks and water shoes. You might be curious what’s the difference between those three types of shoes and how I should make the right choice?
Aqua shoes vs. Aqua sock
Actually, the difference of aqua shoes (also known as water shoes) and aqua socks is quite obvious so it’s important to understand which is more suitable for you. Unlike aqua shoes, which are sturdy and supportive enough to double up as an everyday shoe, aqua socks recreate the feel of being barefoot during water activities. They are often used as necessary insulation for scuba diving and other watersports. Though aqua socks are more lightweight and can be more flexible than aqua shoes, they do not offer the same levels of protection that you might need when moving between terrains.
Aqua shoes vs Water sandle
If you want shoes that will protect your feet well in both wet and dry environments, water shoes will be better than water sandles as it could provide added traction on rafts and boats, as well as extra grip on rocky, slippery river bottoms or lakebeds. Unlike water sandles, water shoes have a closed-toe design similar to a regular shoe to protect precious toes and feet as you paddle, float, hike or beachcomb. Also, water shoes are typically made of breathable materials or dry quickly, so your feet don’t squish around in water-logged kicks.
However, if the shoes you are looking forprimarily for hiking, then water sandle are more suitable for you. Look for rubber outsoles if you plan to use them on rocky terrain or extended treks on trails. These are essentially hiking footwear with grippier soles, plus a lot of drainage features to let water out after you tromp through a stream or soggy stretch of trail.
